7 ways to celebrate Halloween in Mississippi Mills this weekend and beyond

1) Hallloween Escape Room

Think you can escape the ghouls and ghosts? Solve riddles and test your skills in our Halloween Escape Room. Work together to solve all the puzzles before the 1 hour time limit is up!

The event will take place Almonte Branch Library (155 High St, Almonte) October 28 & 29

Designed for children 8+ with an adult.

Registration is required.

2) Spooky Stories at the North Lanark Regional Museum

All are welcome at the North Lanark Regional Museum (647 River Rd., Appleton) for a reading of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 7 – 8 p.m.

Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation for the Lanark County Food Bank, The Hunger Stop.

3) Halloween Hike for Hospice

Bay & Balm Apothecary (15 Bridge St., Almonte) is hosting a family friendly Halloween Hike for Hospice with proceeds going to Home Hospice North Lanark. The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 29.

Put on your Halloween costume and come out for a walk around Almonte.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the walk starts at noon.

4) Mississippi Mills Youth Centre’s 5th Annual Haunted House “Welcome to Camp Stillwater”

The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre (MMYC) is proud to partner with the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum (MVTM) this October to host the 5th annual Haunted House Fundraiser. The theme of this year’s haunted house will be a spooky sleepaway camp! $10 per person (aged 10+)/$5 per peson (9 & under)

Oct. 29 (3 – 4:30 p.m.), appropriate for all ages

Oct. 29 (5:30 – 9 p.m.), for ages 10+

Oct. 30 (5 – 9 p.m.), appropriate for all ages

5) Trick or Treat at Mississippi Mills

Trick or treaters are welcome at Almonte Old Town Hall (14 Bridge St) and the municipal office (3131 Old Perth Road) on Halloween (Tuesday, Oct. 31) between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

6) Halloween BBQ

Enjoy complimentary hot dogs and candy courtesy of the Almonte Baptist Church on Halloween (Tuesday, Oct. 31) from between 5 and 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 207 Reserve St., Almonte.

7) 2nd Annual Pumpkin Promenade

The Neighbourhood Tomato Friendship Oven invites you to the 2nd annual Pumpkin Promenade!

4-6pm Bring your jack-o-lantern to the Alamedia (155 High St)

5pm Wood oven baked beans will be available. Cash only donations accepted (proceeds to the MM Fire Dept)

6-7pm Walk the Alamedia to see all of the jack-o-lanterns lit up!

Pumpkins will be donated to local farmers for compost and feed!
