6 from Perth, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place charged in Perth drug bust

In a significant operation conducted by the Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) in collaboration with the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine and Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), six individuals have been arrested and charged following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Perth on Friday, Oct. 27.

Authorities seized quantities of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin, cash, and three firearms during the operation.

The below charges have not been proven in court.

Christopher Curran, 35, of Carleton Place, has been charged with several offenses, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), among others.

Dylan Greene, 23, of Carleton Place, faces charges of possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking (cocaine) and failure to comply with release order, among other counts.

Cayla Ann Kerr, 36, of Perth, is charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking (cocaine).

Anthony Kidder, 25, of Tay Valley Township, faces charges of possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking (cocaine).

Corinne Shelley, 44, of Perth, is charged with careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition, as well as careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition.

Brennan Wylie, 26, of Smiths Falls, is charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking (cocaine).

Shelley is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on December 18, 2023. The other five accused individuals were held for bail hearings.

The arrests come after an intensive investigation by law enforcement agencies targeting drug trafficking activities in the area. Further details about the case are expected to emerge as the legal proceedings progress.
