Smiths Falls woman accused of stealing co-worker’s debit cards

In an unsettling turn of events on Tuesday, Nov. 7, a 36-year-old woman reported the theft of her debit cards, pointing fingers at her co-worker, 37-year-old Melanie Guigue, Smiths Falls police report.

In a media release, police say that the subsequent investigation uncovered a trail of financial wrongdoing, as Guigue was allegedly found in possession of three stolen debit cards, having executed five unauthorized transactions.

Authorities further revealed that Guigue was already under a release order by the courts for similar offenses.

Guigue turned herself in to the police on Wednesday, Nov. 8, and she was detained pending a bail hearing to address the charges levied against her.
