UPDATE: 54-year-old Tweed man killed in four-vehicle Highway 7 collision

Police have released more information on a fatal collision that took place in Drummond-North Elmsley on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate the collision, which involved a transport truck, a pick-up truck and two passenger vehicles and resulted in the death of one person.

In a media release, OPP state that their officers joined Lanark County Paramedics and Drummond-North Elmsley Firefighters in responding to the collision on Highway 7 near Westshore Road, between Perth and Innisville, at around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

The driver of the pick-up, a 54-year-old male from Tweed, was pronounced deceased at the scene. One other person was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Lanark OPP continues to investigate, with assistance from OPP Traffic Collision Investigators and a Collision Reconstructionist.

 The highway remained closed until Wednesday evening.
