Love was in the air on Valentine’s Day as members of the Almonte Lions Club dropped by the Almonte General Hospital with donations totalling $15,000.

They also pledged another $5,000 towards the remaining costs of the CT scanner the foundation is raising money for.

The Almonte Lions raise funds in a variety of ways including the sale of gladiolas, the annual duck race and the bridge toll collection. The group also supports the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) with eye glass collections, provides Christmas food hampers and gives out scholarships to high school students.

Not including these donations, the Lions have contributed more than $124,000 to the AGH FVM Foundation in support of patient and resident care in the past 23 years.

“Thanks to Bob Bassett, Pauline Nolan, Melanie Texeira, Dave Keehner and Tammy Lowry for representing your members and sharing the love with our patients and residents,” the Almonte General Hospital Foundation said in a social media post.
