Carleton Place man charged after allegedly making ‘inappropriate sexual comments’ to two young girls

A 57-year-old Carleton Place man has been arrested after allegedly making “inappropriate sexual comments” to two girls under the age of 16.

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says in a media release that the incident happened March 14 on the Ottawa Valley Rail Trail in the Rosamond Street/Bell Street area.

After an extensive investigation by the Lanark OPP Crime Unit and frontline officers from the Carleton Place office of the Lanark Detachment, an arrest was made today, March 19.

Hans Hauner, age 57, of Carleton Place has been charged with:

  • Invitation to sexual touching-under 16 years of age
  • Communicate with anyone under 18 for purpose of obtaining sexual services

Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused has been released from custody with mandatory conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 22, 2024.
