OPP release video of car involved in suspected hit-and-run near Smiths Falls that killed Steven Tate

Lanark County OPP have provided new details on a suspected hit and run fatality near Smiths Falls.

“You could help us resolve this case,” reads a post to X by police.

Police say in a media release that they believe members of the public may have crucial information in the case.

On Nov. 8, 2023, Steven Tate of Montague Township was found deceased adjacent to Highway 15 after being reported missing days earlier.

Investigators have released video, as well as still images of a vehicle that police believe to be responsible for Tate’s death. The video shows a dark coloured hatchback or sedan, believed to be a Mazda, which would have had damage to the front passenger side.
