Carleton Place man already in custody charged with sexual assault

A Carleton Place resident, currently in the Brockville jail for other matters, has been arrested in connection with alleged assault and sexual assault incidents dating back to late 2022 and early 2023.

In a media release, Lanark OPP say they began investigating after an individual reported being assaulted and sexually assaulted.

The suspect was arrested at the Brockville jail, where police say he has been held since December 2023 in relation to other matters.

Marcel Lapensee, age 56, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Sexual assault (2 counts) – Section 271
  • Assault – Section 266
  • Assault causing bodily harm – Section 267(c)
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – Section 264.1(1)(a)
  • Voyeurism – Section 162(1)

Charges have not been proven in court.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 31, 2024.
