Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority seeks feedback from public to plan future policies, programs

What are your thoughts on the local conservation authority? The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) wants to hear from area residents.

A media release explains that conservation authorities are required to review their land holdings and the programs and services they deliver by the end of 2024, prompting the MVCA to ask some big questions about how it manages land and the programs and services they deliver.

“Do we need more conservation areas in the watershed? Should we be delivering heritage programs and services? How should we recover costs for programs of local benefit?” are some potential questions they are pondering.

Residents are invited to have a say in the future of their watershed and the programs delivered by the MVCA. Two documents were developed to facilitate this process. “The Discussion Paper” (short) poses key questions that MVCA needs to consider. The “Current State Report” (long) is a reference document that provides useful background information. Both can be downloaded from mvc.on.ca/current-initiatives

Comments will be accepted until Sept. 6 and can be submitted via our short online survey, by email to info@mvc.on.ca, and by mail to: 10970 Highway 7, Carleton Place, ON, K7C 3P1.
