‘Ride the LT’ launches in Mississippi Mills, providing transit services in Lanark County

Submitted photo

Lanark County residents and visitors are invited to ride the new LT, an exciting new transit initiative that launched in Mississippi Mills earlier this month.

Weekly Thursday shuttles will travel to popular errand stops, alternating between Almonte and Carleton Place. The shuttles are available for anyone, from youths to seniors, located anywhere in Mississippi Mills, for a modest fee of $2 round trip.

“Residents and businesses of Mississippi Mills have been asking for a service like this for many years, which is why we are so excited to bring Ride the LT to the municipality,” said Marilyn Bird, Executive Director of Lanark Transportation Association. “Not only does this service provide caring, safe and affordable rides to individuals, it also collectively promotes economic growth; people can spend more at businesses while saving money by not having to own a car, or have flexibility for single-vehicle families.”

Routes are as follows:

Almonte – every first and third Thursday of the month with stops at Mississippi Mills Public Library (Almonte branch), the Almonte General Hospital, Shoppers Drug Mart, Your Independent Grocer, and Tim Hortons.

Carleton Place – every second and fourth Thursday of the month with stops at Mississippi Mills Public Library (Almonte branch), FreshCo, Tim Hortons, Walmart, and Giant Tiger.
