Magic of Harry Potter returns to Smiths Falls next weekend

The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario (RMEO) in Smith Falls is calling Harry Potter fans of all ages to climb aboard the Hallow’s Express this Saturday, Sept. 21 for a truly ‘magical’ experience.
While the highly popular train ride is sold out, tickets are still available at the door of the RMEO for the Hallow’s Express, where visitors can explore the Hogwarts-themed Lego Exhibit from ParLUGment of Ottawa, shop sweets from the Trolley Witch on the Candy Cart, try on the sorting hat, sip a butterbeer, and so much more!
RMEO Supervisor Nathaniel Flinn shared, “The event has always been successful but seeing it grow and expand, there’s always that pressure to outdo the year before and this year, I think we will.”
This immersive experience is a fan favourite within the Smith Falls community, not just for showcasing what the RMEO has to offer, but also for providing local actors with the opportunity to portray an iconic Harry Potter role. Flinn shared, “It’s almost exclusively local actors because there’s a really thriving theatre community here in Smith Falls. We have a great group of people who are all willing to volunteer their time to play these characters while doing something really amazing for a not-for-profit organization.”
Flinn says every year he looks forward to seeing the joy and excitement on the guests’ faces, “I think the wizarding world is just one of those things that transcends age. I think a lot of people grew up with the books or the movies, and now a lot of older people are showing their young ones Harry Potter. It’s really nice to be here, obviously working and doing my job, but then also seeing a new group of people introduced to the famous characters.”
The event is taking place from 2 to 8 p.m. at the RMEO. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for youths, and free for children 4 and under. For more information, visit https://rmeo.org/special-events/
