“We were so excited last year to learn that Smiths Falls was selected as a Still Standing town,” said Julia Crowder, the town’s manager of economic development and tourism. We are a community of hardworking, resilient people who don’t give up. Our community over the years have seen its ups and downs, which makes us interesting, and I think that’s why we were chosen.”

The Smiths Falls episode of CBC’s Still Standing was filmed on location on May 8 of this year, at the Smiths Falls Community Centre. The series is hosted, produced and written by Johnny Harris, who is also known for his role as Constable George Crabtree on Murdoch Mysteries, and has won six Canadian Screen Awards. Each episode is a profile of a resilient Canadian community and features a profile of the community alongside a special curated evening of stand-up comedy, performed live in front of the local audience.
