Suspect charged in connection multiple disturbing incidents in Westport area

A series of disturbing incidents in the Westport area recently led to multiple criminal harassment and indecent act charges, Leeds OPP report.

Police say they believe these incidents have been occurring since July of this year, and officers have received multiple reports starting in September of a male masturbating in a parked car at a gas station parking lot, as well as following women in the community.

As a result of the investigation an arrest was made on Oct. 20.

Luc Beauclair, 37, of Perth Road near Sydenham Lake, is charged with:

• Criminal harassment – repeatedly follow, watch and threatening conduct
• Committing an indecent act in a public place – three counts

The accused remains in custody at this time with a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 29 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.

Police are continuing to investigate this incident, and believe there could be other victims. Anyone who may have experienced similar incidents involving a man in a red Ford Escape is asked to contact OPP at the number below.
