Two-way traffic reinstated on Almonte’s 38 Main Street East Dec. 17

Submitted by Municipality of Mississippi Mills

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills has provided an update into the stabilization work being completed at 38 Main Street East in Almonte.

Since the last update on Dec. 6, the municipality says “sufficient progress” has been made to reinstate two-way traffic. It’s expected to be back open as usual today (Tuesday, Dec. 17).

“Barriers will be shifted, snow and the temporary traffic lights will be removed to provide sufficient room to reopen the street for two-way traffic,” a media release says.

Barriers and traffic control signage and equipment will remain on the road and pedestrian traffic will still be restricted.

“It is very important that pedestrians adhere to any sidewalk closures and remain outside of the exclusion zone,” urges the release.

While Union Street South will reopen to traffic, Union Street North will remain closed due to construction activities and additional work. Further work is required to the building to complete the stabilization and allow for the full reopening of Main Street and Union Street, which is anticipated to take another few weeks.

As stated in previous updates, all costs associated with these works will be invoiced back to the property owner.
