Carleton Place woman, 87, dies following Boxing Day collision

A Boxing Day collision has led to the death of an elderly woman from Carleton Place.

In a Jan. 2 media release, OPP say that officers with the Lanark detachment, alongside Lanark County paramedics and Drummond-North Elmsley firefighters responded to the collision on Thursday, Dec. 26, shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Both of the involved drivers were transported to hospital, and one of them, an 87-year-old woman from Carleton Place, died in hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

The collision was investigated by the Lanark detachment, in conjunction with OPP collision reconstructionists and technical collision investigation team members. That investigation found that one vehicle had pulled onto Highway 7, colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

Police say the investigation into the collision is continuing.
