Wind warnings for Brockville, Quinte areas, special weather statement for Lanark

Environment Canada issued a wind warning for the Brockville/Prescott area, as well as the Belleville/Quinte West area on the morning of Monday, Jan. 27.
For both areas, southwesterly winds are expected to gust from 90 to 100 km/h, beginning Monday afternoon and lasting through to the evening. Winds are expected to weaken overnight.
In addition, a strong cold front will move through the region tonight. Environment Canada says the front may be associated with bursts of heavy snow and blowing snow giving significantly reduced visibility along with a sharp temperature drop. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds,” the warning states.
A similar statement was issued for the Lanark County area, however wind gusts are expected to get up to only 70 to 80 km/h in that area.
“Power outages are possible,” Environment Canada states.
