Ontario NDP announce John MacRae for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston seat

The Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP) has nominated John MacRae as their candidate in Lanark—Frontenac—Kingston in the upcoming provincial election.

“For seven years, rural communities have faced shuttered emergency rooms, crumbling schools, and out-of-control housing costs,” MacRae said. “People in Lanark–Frontenac–Kingston deserve better than to be taken for granted – it’s time we had a government that’s on our side.”

According to a release from the party, MacRae has deep roots in Lanark County, and knows the importance of investing in rural health care and creating sustainable jobs in farming and agriculture. The NDP shared that he has a connection to a farm with more than 100 years of family history, and knows that farmers and agricultural workers deserve a voice at Queen’s Park.

Currently employed as a federal public servant in Ottawa, MacRae has first-hand experience working with the underfunded services that children and those with special needs depend on, the party noted.

“John will be a strong voice for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, and for rural communities across our province,” said Marit Stiles, Leader of the Ontario NDP. “Together we can build a better Ontario where there is opportunity for everyone.”

The provincial election will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025. Currently, the Lanark—Frontenac—Kingston seat in Queen’s Park is held by MPP John Jordan.
