Perth mayor taking temporary step away to focus on health

The Town of Perth has announced that Mayor Judy Brown will be temporarily stepping back from mayoral duties while she focuses on her health.

During this time, “Deputy Mayor Ed McPherson will temporarily assume all mayoral communication responsibilities, including public statements, interviews, correspondence, and external meetings,” a media release reads.

Mayor Brown took a similar leave of absence almost exactly one year ago on Jan. 30, 2024.

“I have the best interests of the town and the citizens at heart, and I have every confidence in the deputy mayor to fill in for me in my absence,” Brown stated at the time.

Lanarkist will provide further updates as necessary and as they are made available.
