ATV driver charged with impaired driving on Rideau Ferry Road

A South Emlsley Township resident has been charged with impaired driving of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). 

Officers with Lanark OPP conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Rideau Ferry Road at Bass Lake Road, in South Elmsley Township shortly before 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23.

The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment in Perth for testing. 

Cory Read, 44, of South Elmsley Township, has been charged with: 

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation while prohibited

• Drive under suspension – Highway Traffic Act

Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 24. 

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension), and vehicle has been impounded for 45 days.
