Almonte resident Gerry Visser recently won $1 million in the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball Draw.

Visser, a long-time lottery player, has been purchasing LOTTO 6/49 tickets for 40 years, always selecting the same numbers. He discovered his win after receiving an email from OLG notifying him of the prize.

“I found out I’d won when I received an email from OLG and saw the prize amount. My eyes went wide with shock,” he said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “It was hard to believe at first, but being here today confirms it was real.”

Visser shared the news with his wife and best friend, both of whom were thrilled by the win. “Winning has been very exciting. It still feels unreal,” he said.

While he has no immediate plans for retirement, Visser is considering investing, completing home renovations, and possibly taking a trip.

Visser purchased the winning ticket on OLG.ca. OLG promotes responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
