Perth man, 81, charged with impaired driving after collision

An 81-year-old Perth resident is facing impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash in Tay Valley Township.

On Friday, March 14, 2025, just after 7 p.m., Lanark County OPP responded to a collision on Noonan Side Road. The male driver was arrested at the scene and transported to Perth hospital for testing. Samples were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for analysis.

As a result of the investigation, Denis Cordick, 81, has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

“The individual was taken to hospital and unable to perform a regular breath test,” The OPP’s Corey Noonan explained to Lanarkist when asked to explain the delays. “As such samples must be taken and sent to the Center of Forensic Science to process which causes a delay in the charges being laid.”

Cordick was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 26, 2025. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.
