Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to support kids in your community? Whether it’s a teacher who sparks curiosity in the classroom, a neighbour who lends a hand, a coach who builds confidence in a new skill, or a business that donates to youth-oriented projects — behind every thriving young person is someone who took the time to care. Now it’s time to celebrate those special people.

The Every Kid in our Communities of Leeds & Grenville Coalition and the Lanark County Child & Youth Services Collaborative have opened nominations for their annual “Asset Builders” recognition initiative — an uplifting campaign to honour individuals, organizations and businesses making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and youth across Leeds, Grenville and Lanark.

The South East Health Unit (SEHU), a member of both coalitions spearheading the event, is encouraging residents to nominate an ‘Asset Builder’ to help celebrate the everyday champions who are helping young people flourish.

The campaign is meant to acknowledge those who mentor, empower, and advocate for young people at a local level or in regional media — from coaches and teachers to employers and volunteers.

“We are so fortunate to live in a community where many organizations and individuals influence the lives of young people in a positive way,” said Tawnya Boileau, Chair of EKIOC’s Developmental Assets Work Group in a press release on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. “This recognition is a way to shine a light on those who help our children and youth thrive.”

According to the SEHU, nominees will be recognized for demonstrating qualities like inspiring youth, investing time and energy into their development, providing growth opportunities and new experiences, or simply showing kids they matter.

Each honouree will receive a certificate and a well-earned moment in the spotlight at two recognition events at the following locations.

  • Leeds & Grenville: Sunday, June 22, 2025 at the YMCA of Eastern Ontario in Brockville
  • Lanark: Wednesday, June 25, 2025 during the Lanark County Council meeting

The previous nomination deadline has been extended to Thursday, May 22, 2025. Submission forms are available online at www.everykid.on.ca.
