Students across the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) will once again have the opportunity to explore human rights education this spring, as the Tour for Humanity mobile classroom and Holocaust survivor Andy Rèti return to area schools.

Delivered in partnership with the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC), the Tour for Humanity is a 30-seat, wheelchair-accessible mobile classroom that brings lessons on the Holocaust, genocide, and Canada’s human rights history directly to students and educators through interactive workshops.

In addition to the mobile unit, five UCDSB secondary schools will host presentations by Andy Rèti, a child survivor of the Holocaust. Rèti will speak about his personal experiences and take part in student-led question-and-answer sessions.

This marks the fourth year the Tour for Humanity has visited UCDSB schools. It continues to be a popular educational initiative aligned with Ontario’s history curriculum, which includes Holocaust education at the secondary level.
