A call has gone out to community-minded individuals across Lanark County as the Lanark Community Alliance (LCA) looks to recruit new board members committed to fostering inclusion, equity, and grassroots leadership.

The LCA is a non-profit organization which provides shared governance for three vital local organizations: Community Living Association Lanark (CLA), Carebridge Community Support (CCS), and Clayton Seniors Housing Corporation (CSHC). The LCA strives to support these three organizations by empowering front-line staff, enhancing programs and services, and sharing critical resources for individuals living with developmental disabilities, older adults, and those in need of affordable housing.

CLA works with individuals with developmental-related abilities to promote independence and dignity. CCS delivers community-based programs for seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income residents. CSHC focuses on affordable housing solutions for seniors in the region.

The LCA are now seeking new members to join its board of directors. According to a press release, the commitment would be five to ten hours per month and board members are expected to help guide strategy, ensure accountability, and embody inclusive leadership.

“At LCA, leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about people,” said board chair Lorne Heslop in the press release. “We’re building a board that reflects the diversity of our communities, champions inclusion, and believes deeply in the value of every individual.”

The LCA is especially encouraging applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, professional expertise, and lived experience within the communities they serve.

“Whether you’re a seasoned leader or someone looking to make their first step into governance, your voice matters,” Heslop said.

Applications are open until May 16, 2025. Interested candidates can submit a resume and brief statement of interest to knault@lcalliance.ca. More information is available at lanarkcommunityalliance.ca.
