Mississippi Mills launches ParticipACTION challenge with walk, events throughout June

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills is encouraging residents to get active this June by taking part in the national ParticipACTION Community Challenge, which kicks off Monday, June 2 at noon with a two-kilometre Mayor & Council Walk along the Alameda in Almonte.
The walk will include a warm-up session, food vendors, and entertainment by local performer Jon Lockhart of The Cowguys.
The challenge is a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting physical activity. Communities across Canada are competing for the title of Canada’s Most Active Community and a $100,000 grand prize to be used for local recreational programming. Additional regional prizes ranging from $7,500 to $15,000 are also available.
“I encourage all residents to join us in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge this June,” said Mayor Christa Lowry. “There are so many ways to get involved—whether through fun events planned, local sports clubs or simple morning walks with your dog. The ultimate reward is a more active community here in Mississippi Mills.”
