Carleton Place awards $88K jackpot to winner in community-driven lottery

After 27 suspense-filled weeks, the Ace of Spades—nicknamed “Acey”—has finally been found, bringing the fifth edition of Carleton Place’s Catch the Ace lottery to a dramatic close. Now, one lucky local winner will be receiving an $88,715 jackpot, but many other residents in need of medical care in the region will benefit as well!
According to a press release from the Town of Carleton Place, Steven T. of Manotick, Ontario claimed the top prize after his ticket #AA-17957263 was drawn during the final weekly draw. The announcement marks the conclusion of the popular community fundraiser organized by the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation (CPDMH Foundation) in partnership with Capt. A. Roy Brown Branch 192 of the Royal Canadian Legion.
“This lottery is truly a community celebration where everyone benefits,” said Robyn Arseneau, Executive Director of the CPDMH Foundation. “Every ticket purchased helps us provide the very best care to patients and supports the programs that make Carleton Place such a wonderful place to live.”
The fifth season of Catch the Ace capped off another successful year for the grassroots fundraising initiative, known for blending the thrill of a progressive jackpot with a strong sense of community purpose. Since its inception, the lottery fundraiser has raised over $400,000 for the local hospital and community programs supported by the Legion. Proceeds will go towards purchasing vital patient care equipment and improving essential services in the region.
Organizers say the Catch the Ace lottery is set to return in September, offering residents more chances to win—and to support health care and community initiatives across Carleton Place.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another round of fun, fundraising, and community spirit,” Francis said Kevin Francis, President of the Legion branch.
