Carleton Place seeks names for Veteran Honour Roll ahead of September unveiling

The Town of Carleton Place is once again calling on residents to help recognize local heroes by submitting names to be included on the updated Veteran Honour Roll — a living tribute to those who have served Canada with honour in the decades following the Korean War.
Established by the town of Carleton Place in partnership with the Captain A. Roy Brown Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192, the post-Korea Honour Roll is displayed in the town council chambers, alongside earlier honour rolls listing local veterans of The First and Second World Wars and the Korean War.
The newest plaque will honour those who served in UN and NATO peacekeeping missions and other military deployments that occurred from 1953 to present.
The inscription on the plaque is simple, yet profound:
“FOR THOSE WHO SINCE 1953 SERVED OUR COUNTRY AND COMMUNITY WITH HONOUR, VALOUR, COURAGE AND PRIDE WITH OUR CANADIAN FORCES IN UN/NATO PEACEKEEPING/MILITARY MISSIONS.”
“We encourage all eligible veterans or their families to participate in this important act of remembrance,” said town officials in a press release. “It’s a meaningful way to honour local service members and ensure their contributions are never forgotten.”
According to the town of Carleton Place, eligible veterans who have lived in Carleton Place and served in any Canadian Armed Forces conflict or peacekeeping mission post-1953 are invited to submit their own names to be included or families of qualifying veterans may also submit on their behalf.
Submission forms are available for pickup at the clerk’s office at Town Hall or the Legion building, and must be completed and returned no later than Aug. 15, 2025, to be included in time for the planned unveiling at a council meeting in September, 2025.
