Driver charged with impaired driving after rollover crash near Montague Township

A 40-year-old driver is facing multiple charges after a serious single-vehicle rollover crash on County Road 34 early this morning led to an impaired driving arrest.
According to a release from the East Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers from both the Lanark and Grenville detachments of the OPP responded to the scene after 7:30 a.m. on June 10, 2025 after reports that a pickup truck had been speeding before passing another vehicle and veering off the road into a ditch near Kilmarnock Road.
When officers arrived, they had to break the windshield to extract the driver from the overturned vehicle. Paramedics with Lanark County also attended the scene, and the driver was transported to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
While assessing the incident, police noticed the driver was showing signs of impairment and a roadside breath test was administered, resulting in an arrest. Further testing at the hospital confirmed blood alcohol levels more than three times the legal limit.
The accused has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following charges:
- Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol
- Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration over 80
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Additional provincial offences include having improper tires and possessing an unsealed container of liquor in a vehicle.
The individual, who was not named by the OPP, has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.
