Visitors to the newly renovated Emergency Department at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) will notice a few changes starting Monday, June 16, as the hospital rolls out a brand-new gated parking system with a flat daily rate.

The new parking lot gate will be operating with a card-only payment system, part of an ongoing effort by the Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA) to improve the overall experience for patients and visitors. The cost remains reasonable at a flat rate $5 for a full 24-hour period. The staff and front visitor parking lots at CPDMH will also increase to a $5 daily rate, though those lots will continue using coin-based payment machines until further notice

The MRHA explained in a press release on Wednesday, June 11 that this move to modernize the parking system comes with a larger focus on enhanced safety and smoother traffic flow.

“This new system is a vital step in ensuring the long-term sustainability of our hospital,” said Brad Harrington, President & CEO of MRHA. “The revenue generated will stay right here in Carleton Place, supporting patient care, facility upkeep, and the delivery of high-quality services across the region.”

To help ease the transition, hospital staff will be available on-site during the initial days of the changeover, and users will find clear signage and printed instructions posted around the lot to help users.
