Perth resident facing charges for repeated indecent acts in apartment building hallway

A 56-year-old Perth man is facing charges following an investigation into reports of indecent acts at an apartment building in the Town of Perth.

On Monday, June 9, 2025, officers with the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of a suspicious person exposing themselves in the hallway of the building.

Police say surveillance footage revealed that a man had been repeatedly performing indecent acts in the hallway since May. Police did not specify what, precisely, these indecent acts were.

As a result of the investigation, Peter Asselstine, 56, of Perth, has been charged with:

• Criminal harassment – three counts
• Indecent act in a public place – two counts

Charges have not been proven in court.

Asselstine was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
