Watermain leak prompts testing and watering ban in Mississippi Mills

The Municipality’s Roads and Public Works Department is investigating a significant watermain leak in the municipal water system.
To help identify the location of the leak, staff will launch a comprehensive leak detection program starting overnight on Monday, June 23, between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Testing will continue throughout the week in various areas.
What Residents Can Expect
During testing, some residents may notice:
- Temporary drops in water pressure
- Discoloured water
These effects are normal during leak detection work. If you experience discoloured water, run a cold water tap for 10 minutes to help clear it.
Watering Ban in Effect Starting Friday, June 20
Although the drinking water supply remains safe and the quantity is not currently at risk, the system is under high demand. As a precaution, a watering ban is now in effect. Residents are asked to turn off all automatic lawn sprinklers and irrigation systems.
Key Information
- Municipal water is safe to drink.
- There is no risk of running out of water.
- These measures are to protect the integrity of the water system infrastructure.
