The Town of Carleton Place is advising residents and commuters of several active construction projects taking place throughout the community in the coming week, with the reminder that weather, staffing, and material supply issues may affect the construction schedule.

Work is already underway on the McNeely Avenue Sanitary Sewer Upsizing Project. Cavanagh Construction has started replacing the sanitary sewer line behind Canadian Tire and is moving west toward McNeely Avenue. By mid-next week, crews are expected to begin working overnight from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. as they approach the entrance of the Independent grocery store and McNeely Avenue to minimize disruptions for residents and businesses.

Additional construction projects next week include:

  • Dufferin Street: Crews will be removing the existing asphalt and replacing damaged sections of the concrete curb and sidewalk.
  • St. Paul Street: Crews will be removing asphalt and replacing a damaged section of concrete curb.
  • Down Street: Crews will be removing asphalt, excavating, and replacing underlying materials.
  • Charles Street: Crews will be removing asphalt.
  • Grant Street: Crews will be removing asphalt.
  • Industrial Avenue Pumping Station: Crews will be mobilizing to begin rehabilitation work and verifying the location of the forcemain. Traffic control will be in place as needed.

Residents are being encouraged to use alternative routes where possible to avoid construction areas or to slow down and follow all signage and flag crew instructions. “Our priority is to ensure that everyone, including workers and drivers, gets home safely each day,” the town said in a release.

Residents with questions about ongoing construction projects can contact the Public Works Office at 613-257-2253.
