Residents and frequent commuters of Almonte’s Carss Street neighbourhood can expect to see construction crews on-site starting next Monday, as the municipality begins work on a full watermain reconstruction project.

The work, which is scheduled to start on July 7, 2025 will be carried out by W.H. MacSweyn Inc. and includes a complete reconstruction of Carss Street from Union Street North to Mitcheson Street.

As part of the project, crews will install a new watermain and realign sanitary sewer infrastructure at the intersection of Carss and Mitcheson streets.

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills has notified residents in the affected area that access to Carss Street may be temporarily restricted at times throughout the project. Drivers can also expect short-term traffic delays and occasional detours while the work is underway.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of August 2025.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Blair MacSweyn, Project Manager with W.H. MacSweyn Inc., at blair@whmacsweyn.com or 613-407-4694.
