A heat warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the South East Health Unit (SEHU) region, with high temperatures expected to continue until Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

This warning is issued when daytime highs reach 31°C or more, and nighttime lows stay above 20°C for at least two days, or the humidex reaches 40 or higher for two days in a row.

SEHU officials are urging residents to take precautions, as extreme heat can lead to serious health issues such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, or even heat stroke.

Those most at risk include seniors, infants and young children, people with chronic illnesses or on certain medication, those without access to proper shelter and people working or exercising outdoors.

The SEHU is strongly encouraging the public to check on a neighbour or a friend who may have a greater risk of suffering negative health consequences from the heat and humidity. You can use this guide to check on friends and family.
