A 62-year-old Ottawa woman is facing an impaired driving charge after being stopped at a RIDE checkpoint in Lanark County.

Lanark County OPP say officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program just after 11 p.m. on Monday, July 21, on March Road at Appleton Side Road in Mississippi Mills Township when a vehicle approached the stop.

After speaking with the driver, police say they arrested her and brought her to the Carleton Place detachment for further testing.

Sheila Hutchison, 62, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80. This charge has not been proven in court.

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Aug. 25.

Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
