Health unit lifts closure order for Perth’s Rocky River Café after salmonella investigation

The South East Health Unit says it has completed its investigation into a salmonella outbreak linked to meals served at Rocky River Café on or around July 15.
The outbreak is linked to seven confirmed cases and 11 other people who experienced symptoms but were not tested.
Health officials believe the illnesses were caused by cross-contamination of multiple food items due to improper food handling. No single menu item has been identified as the source.
The restaurant has undergone several follow-up inspections and the health unit says it is satisfied there is no longer a risk. The café’s closure order has been lifted.
The health unit says the operator cooperated fully during the investigation.
