Carleton Place announces seasonal closures of compost and hazardous waste depot

Residents in Carleton Place will have only a few more chances to use two key waste disposal services before they close for the season.
The Compost Yard at 1 Bates Drive will hold its final Wednesday evening drop-off hours of the year on August 27, operating from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. While Wednesday openings will temporarily end, the yard will remain open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until early November.
Meanwhile, the Household Hazardous Waste Depot will close for the season at 12p.m on Saturday, Aug. 30. Town officials are encouraging residents to drop off items such as paints, oils, and other accepted hazardous materials on one of the two upcoming Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. to avoid long lines accumulating on the final day.
The depot will reopen in May 2026. A full and detailed list of accepted materials can be found on the Town’s website.
