Five Span Bridge in Pakenham set for next closure September 2

Lanark County has announced the next scheduled closure of the Five Span Bridge in Pakenham will take place on the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025 as rehabilitation work continues on the historic structure.
The Township of Mississippi Mills said in a release that the bridge will be closed periodically until October 2025 to accommodate construction. While this rehabilitation work will undoubtedly impact local motorists, advance notice of closures will be posted on roadside digital signs and shared on Lanark County’s social media channels.
When closures are in effect, they will follow these set hours:
- Monday through Thursday from half an hour before sunrise until half an hour after sunset
- Fridays from half an hour before sunrise until noon
The bridge will remain open overnight, on weekends and on statutory holidays. A detour route will be in place during bridge closures via Galetta Side Road, Upper Dwyer Hill Road and Kinburn Side Road.
A live video feed of the rehabilitation project is available at www.lanarkcounty.ca/5arches. More information can also be found on the county website or by contacting Lanark County Public Works at 613-267-1353.
