Resurfacing work to begin on Tay Havelock Trail next week

Resurfacing work is scheduled to begin next week on a section of the Tay Havelock Trail, according to Lanark County.
Starting Monday, Aug. 25, crews from Gemmill Sand and Gravel will carry out grading work and apply a new stone dust surface on a trail section from the Old Brooke Road #2 crossing toward the trailhead west of Glen Tay.
Public Works Manager Sam Poole explained the work is part of the county’s effort to improve the overall experience for trail users. “This maintenance is an important step in maintaining the safety, durability and accessibility of the trail,” Poole said in a release.
The Tay Havelock Trail is a 25-kilometre multi-use route that runs along a former rail line that connects with several legs of the Trans Canada Trail. The trail can be accessed south of Highway 7 at Glen Tay, however, trail users are being asked by Lanark County to exercise caution while workers and equipment are on location.
