Perth long term care home Lanark Lodge welcomed Ontario’s Minister of Long-Term Care last week.

During her visit, Hon. Natalia Kusendova-Bashta toured the facility and met with frontline workers, leadership, and county officials to learn more about the Lodge’s programs and priorities.

According to Lanark County, the visit was seen as an opportunity for the Lodge to showcase both the successes and challenges of long-term care in the Lanark community such as how to improve resident well-being, strengthen staff supports, and adapt to the evolving needs of long-term care.

During her tour, Kusendova-Bashta took a moment to share her gratitude for the staff’s hard work. “She expressed her appreciation to the entire Lanark Lodge team for their dedication and compassion,” the county said in a statement.

Shawna Stone, Director of long-term care at Lanark Lodge, noted the minister’s acknowledgment was meaningful for the staff, who attend to a care for residents each day.

“We are proud of the work our team does every day, and it was a privilege to share that with the minister. Her recognition means a great deal to our staff,” Stone said in a statement.

“We thank Minister Kusendova-Bashta for taking the time to visit and for her continued support of long-term care initiatives,” said Lanark County Warden Toby Randell. “Her engagement with our staff and leadership reinforces the importance of collaboration between municipalities and the province.”
