Beckwith driver charged with impaired after crash into ditch

A Beckwith Township resident has been charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash early Friday.
Lanark County OPP say they received a crash notification around 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 5 and found a vehicle in a ditch on Derry Side Road.
The driver, identified as 57-year-old Hilary Close, was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.
Close has been charged with operation while impaired with a blood-alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Police say the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven. Close was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Perth on Oct. 20.
