The Ontario government has awarded a contract to build a new roundabout at the intersection of Highway 15 and County Road 42 in the Township of Rideau Lakes.

The project will include reconstructing pavement, modifying intersection entrances, improving drainage, and installing new lighting and landscaping. R.W. Tomlinson Limited has been awarded the contract.

Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said the investment is part of a broader $30-billion commitment to highway infrastructure.

“The new roundabout at Highway 15 and County Road 42 will improve road safety as we continue our work to expand highway infrastructure across the province,” Sarkaria said in a media release.

Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark said the upgrades will benefit both residents and businesses.

“Highway 15 and County Road 42 are vital transportation links for families and businesses in Rideau Lakes,” Clark said. “By improving the safe movement of people and goods along this corridor, our government is protecting our community and supporting future economic growth.”

Construction is expected to create local jobs while addressing long-standing safety concerns at the intersection.
