Lanark County man faces new firearm, drug charges after threats against police

OPP

A local man who was charged last month with making threats toward police officers is now facing additional charges following a search of his home.

The investigation began in late August when Lanark County OPP received reports that threats had been made against officers.

On Aug. 29, members of the Lanark County OPP and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit arrested a suspect at a residence on Munlaren Road in Drummond-North Elmsley Township.

On Sept. 11, officers executed a search warrant at the same residence, seizing a firearm, ammunition and suspected cocaine.

Joshua Devlin, 40, of Drummond-North Elmsley, is now charged with four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a Schedule 1 substance and failing to comply with a probation order. Charges have not been proven in court.

These charges come in addition to earlier counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and failing to comply with a probation order.

Devlin remains in custody. His bail hearing is scheduled to continue Sept. 18 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.
