Mediation continues with Ontario Land Tribunal over subdivision dispute in Perth

Mediation is set to resume this month in a case before the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) concerning a proposed subdivision by CAIVAN (Perth GC) Limited (Case Number OLT-23000534).
The Town of Perth said in a press release on Thursday, Sept. 11, that the next OLT-led session will be held Sept. 23 as part of ongoing talks aimed at addressing concerns about the proposed development.
So far this year, sessions have been held on Feb. 14, March 16, April 30, May 30 and Aug. 19, bringing together representatives from the Town of Perth, CAIVAN, legal counsel, expert witnesses and the tribunal-appointed mediator.
No official hearing date has been scheduled while mediation continues but town officials say they are committed to finding a resolution that “reflects the interests of the community while supporting responsible, well-planned growth.”
“The mediation process provides an opportunity to carefully assess how future development can best align with Perth’s values and long-term planning objectives,” the town stated.
Because the matter is still before the tribunal, town council and staff say they cannot comment any further on the matter at this time. Residents with questions about the process are directed to CAO Michael Touw at cao@perth.ca,
