The Town of Perth will officially open its new dog park at Darou Farm, 2845 Rideau Ferry Rd., on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Friends of Perth Dog Park, who organized the event, raised more than $30,000 for the project. The Town matched that amount, making the park a joint community and municipal effort.

The grand opening will include live music, vendors and displays from local organizations.

“The Perth Dog Park has been years in the making,” said Mayor Judy Brown in a statement. “It’s thanks to the incredible support and determination of local residents that we are able to celebrate this milestone today. This park is not just a place for dogs to run and play. It’s a testament to the strength of our community.”

Future work is planned to add more features to the park next year. The project is also part of a wider plan to develop Darou Farm into a natural space for passive recreation.

“This is just the beginning,” said Cathy McNally, director of community services. “We’re thrilled to see the dog park open and look forward to working together on future enhancements at Darou Farm.”
