Lanark County OPP report that they have laid charges in two separate investigations this week.

On Monday, Sept. 29, just before 1 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Bolingbroke Road in Tay Valley Township. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment in Perth for testing.

As a result, Angela Pensa, 61, of Tay Valley Township, has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand and novice driver — blood alcohol concentration above zero. Charges have not been proven in court.

Pensa was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, Oct. 27. Her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The next day, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, officers began a separate investigation into intimate partner violence related to incidents between January and September of this year.

A 29-year-old Perth man has been charged with two counts of assault, three counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, two counts of forcible entry, break and enter, and three counts of trespass at night.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing in Perth. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

Police are reminding residents that victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault are not alone. Anyone in immediate danger is urged to call 911.
