Work continues on roads, pumping stations and treatment plants in Carleton Place

The Town of Carleton Place is advising residents that work is continuing at several construction sites this week, with schedules dependent on weather, staffing and the availability of materials.
At the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, crews are carrying out rock breaking and excavation. Preparations are underway for new underground piping at the Water Treatment Plant, while work is set to begin on the wet well for the new headworks building at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
On the Captain A. Roy Brown Boulevard extension and McEachen Drive, storm sewer installation will continue, and watermain installation is scheduled to begin.
Other road work this week includes:
- Charles Street: paving preparations and iron adjustments.
- St. Paul Street: grading and application of granular material, along with paving preparations and iron adjustments.
Work is also ongoing at pumping stations across town:
- Findlay Avenue: foundation work for the future pumping station.
- Industrial Avenue: construction of the foundation for the new building.
- Princess Street: modifications to the existing building while concrete cures for the buoyancy slab.
The town is asking drivers to avoid construction zones when possible. If detours cannot be taken, motorists are urged to slow down and follow directions from flaggers and posted signage.
Questions about the projects can be directed to the Public Works Office at 613-257-2253.
