A Drummond-North Elmsley resident is facing several charges after allegedly fleeing from police on an ATV in Tay Valley Township.

Lanark County OPP said officers stopped two off-road vehicles on Christie Lake Road just before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. During the investigation, both ATVs fled the scene.

The OPP Canine Unit located one of the drivers nearby, and officers later found the second driver and a passenger at a residence, where they were arrested.

Police said the driver was taken to the Perth detachment for testing.

As a result, Kolton Purdon, 22, was charged with operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration 80 plus), operation while impaired (alcohol), obstructing a peace officer, flight from a peace officer, driving without a helmet and driving a non-passenger ATV with a passenger. Charges have not been proven in court.

Purdon was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Nov. 17. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the ATV was impounded for seven days.
