Carleton Place announces fall leaf collection and compost yard closing dates

As autumn leaves continue to blanket lawns and neighbourhood streets, the Town of Carleton Place is reminding residents that the fall curbside leaf collection will take place from Monday, Nov. 3 to Friday, Nov. 14.
The annual collection, managed by the town’s Public Works Department, aims to help residents keep their properties and streets clear ahead of winter. To ensure a smooth process, town officials are asking residents to set out leaf bags by 7 a.m. on their regular waste collection day and to follow a few simple guidelines.
Only paper leaf bags will be accepted and leaves or yard waste placed in plastic bags will not be collected. Town officials cautioned that each bag must weigh no more than 15 kilograms to allow for safe and efficient handling.
“We are appealing to residents to please be patient with Public Works staff as they do their best to collect the significant volume of bags that will be placed at the curb during this two-week period,” the town said in their release.
Residents who prefer to drop off their yard waste can continue to use the Compost Yard at 1 Bates Drive. The site is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Nov. 15, after which it will close for the season before reopening again in spring 2026.
