Mississippi Mills announces fall leaf and yard waste collection schedule

Residents are being reminded to rake, bundle, and bag their yard waste as the Township of Mississippi Mills prepares for its fall curbside leaf and yard waste collection, taking place from Nov. 18 to 20, 2025. According to the township, the collection schedule is divided by community and garbage pickup zones to ensure smooth service across the municipality.
On Tuesday, Nov. 18, pickup will occur on the west side of Almonte (those with Wednesday garbage collection days). On Wednesday, Nov. 19, collection will take place in the hamlets and villages of Appleton, Blakeney, Clayton, and Pakenham, as well as several subdivisions, including Pakenham Golf Course, Oakland Crescent, Fairway Crescent, Julie Anne Crescent, Spruce Crescent, Senator, Heather Crescent, Carl Lee, and Duncan.
The final collection day on Thursday, Nov. 20, will cover the east side of Almonte (Friday garbage collection days) and subdivisions such as Whitetail Ridge and Greystone/Stonehome Crescent.
Residents outside these designated areas are encouraged to bring their leaf and yard waste to one of the following drop-off sites.
- Beckwith Transfer Station (9271 Cavanagh Road, Carleton Place), open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., where fees may apply
- The Howie Road Depot (1470 Howie Road, Carp), open Wednesdays 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until November 1;
- The Pakenham Depot (580 Barr Side Road), open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Accepted materials include leaves, brush, pumpkins, grass clippings, garden waste, tree trimmings, and houseplants. Township officials noted that tree and shrub clippings should be tied with string and not wire, in small, manageable bundles.
The Township also would like to remind residents that the Carleton Place Leaf and Yard Waste Depot on Patterson Street is not available for Mississippi Mills residents, as it is reserved for Carleton Place users only.
